The relationship between Kristina and Linda brought back pleasant memories of to Riko. As a child his mother was so loving and warm to him, just as Linda was to Kristina. The two of them seemed more like sister and landlady and tenant. It was heart warming to see the two of them. Kristina and Linda, celebrating together as Linda teased Kristina about a Kristina and Riko going to the fair tomorrow.
'A date hmm..' Riko thought to himself. It wasn't that he didn't want to go on a date with Kristina it was more that he didn't really think of that what they where doing was a date. When he had asked her it was so spare of the moment, Riko wanted to spend time with Kristina so he asked, not really with much forethought behind his question. But then he though about it some more... two people interested in each other spending time together alone..."I guess it's a date"
In then his mind went back to the conversation and what Linda had asked. He wanted to be kind to Linda and to Kristina so he though about the question. Riko was looking at Linda as she was asking him, then he broke contact, took a look at Kristina, then back a Linda and smiled "I do have someone that cares quite a lot about me."

Katrina looked at Riko, burying her face in her arm when he said it was a date. They were dating now? would that mean that they were boyfriend and girlfriend? She had no clue what to think about it, looking up again at Riko when he said he had someone who cared about him. The blush went from her cheeks, she wondered who it was, she smiled slightly. She knew he couldn't have been alone. "Well that's good to hear, do you have a place to stay tonight? or do you just wander around?". Katrina looked at Linda, she wondered if she would just stop this now.
"Well how about we work at finishing our soups? we don't want them to get cold!" she smiled and dug into her soup, eating it up quickly.
Hearing a sharp sentence "No slurping!" Katrina's ears lowered, she started to eat the soup as it should be. Once she was done she hopped out of the chair, setting her bowl in the sink she smiled.
Rubbing her stomach "mm, that was yummy!" she smiled. Her tail twitched moving back and forth she smiled and looked at Riko. Linda looked at Katrina "you really are like a cat, you slurped up that whole bowl of soup!" she laughed, and laughed even more when Katrina turned bright red.

Kat didn't really know where to go, she was embarrassed so she wanted to go to her room. She didn't want to leave him behind though. Who knows what they would talk about.

What happened next was so defied the laws of physic and biology, or maybe just another strange mutation. Riko couldn't believe what he just saw. It seems as though Katrina had the ability to BREATH in soup! It was such a cool mutation, although not all that useful. She could finish an entire bowl of soup in a mere few seconds. And even more than that she also possessed the rare mutation of , chromatophores, which contain pigments in their cytoplasm, that likely allowed Katrina to change to the weird shade or red she was turning. Riko chuckled to himself, it would have certainly be strange if Katrina certainly had those mutations but alas most people don't have that mutations that are as whimsical as that.
"I sleep in the out by my shop. It's a small room but it's better than nothing. I guess not many people can afford houses whith where the economy has been standing." Riko savored his bowl of soup until the very last drop. "It's getting rather late, I should probably head out. It's been a pleasure meting you Linda."
On Riko's way out he looked back "Can't wait to meet you at the fair tomorrow, I'll be at the entrance so don't keep me waiting." Riko smiled.

Katrina looked at Riko when she heard his chuckle, it made her happy that he did. It was good to laugh, it's the best medicine.
Linda herself chuckled at Katrina's behavior, it certifiably was amusing to watch her and listen to her. Probably one of the many reasons she liked to keep the girl around. Hearing where Riko had slept, she wondered if she should offer him a room, she doubted that Katrina would not be all giddy about it. She guess she would leave it be for now. "Ah, well Katrina probably wouldn't have a room anywhere without me. When I found her years ago, she was all shaky and tired, poor girl, she looked like a stray cat. I just had to help her out". Looking at Kat, who changed a deep shade of red upon hearing that.
Katrina looked at Riko, then down at the ground, staring at her toes. Listening to them slurp up their soup, well eat it properly. Unlike her and her slurping, looking at Riko when he was done, she went over and grabbed his bowl, setting it in the sink.
Linda stood up, "it was nice to meet you as well Riko, I hope to see you around her more often, the door's always open for you".
Katrina grinned, nodding "I will try not to" grinning she walked over to him walking him out. "It was nice meeting you Riko, see you tomorrow" standing in the doorway now of the house.
